New HDD OUT OF LIMITED WARRANTY Registration Problem

I purchased the WD My Book Studio II - 6 TB USB 2.0/FireWire 800/400/eSATA Desktop External Hard Drive from Amazon on April 7, 2013.  I just opened the box today to setup the product.  When I went to register the product, the WD website responded with the statement “OUT OF LIMITED WARRANTY” and cannot be registered.  This seems odd… what’s even more odd is the product cannot be found on the WD products list.  I would appreciate assistance from WD regarding this matter.

Hi, the warranty for your drive should be 3 years from the date of purchase. Please contact tech support directly and they should be able to update the warranty for you. Follow the links below for more information.
