NEED help with My Passport Ultra!

Hi everyone,
Now the WD My Passport Ultra that I own is from 2014 and today I opened it the first time to realize that it is not compatible with my MacBook Pro (which is updated to Yosemite)! Or at least I think…
If I go to Disk Utility and try to reformat it from Windows to Mac (as I have seen on tutorials and the help portals) it simply won’t work and a new error always appears.
PLEASE look at the images to see my problem:

and

As you see when I highlight the “2 TB WD My Passport…” thing and try to convert it from MS-DOS (FAT) to MAC OS Extended (journaled) a DISK ERASE error comes up. If I highlight the partition and go to Erase the format: Windows NT File System is, not only, grey as if I wouldn’t be able to change anything, it also, doesn’t let me format it to MAC OS Extended (journaled) and instead a VOLUME ERASE error comes up.
I have seen on some help websites that you can go to partition and do something there that apparently should help and solve the error, BUT I also followed those steps and still nothing has changed.

I need to know from all of you helpful mates out there if I should give up and realize I have bought the wrong thing and go cry or if I should try something else that will actually work- something you guys recommend!

THANKS in advance,

I sent this link to someone just today with similar issue. See if it can help you:

This is opposite of what you want to do, so check the company referenced, they likely have a program for what you want.

yes thank you!
However if I go to the website it only recommends me to buy some product…isn’t there another way out? something I can do on my laptop?

You mentioned you might have to go buy a new drive, but if a $20 software program can solve your problem, you complain? This is real software from a long-time established company, and you want something for free?

Look, your whole post is confusing; I am not sure if you just want to use your drive on the other platform or delete all data on drive to use the other platform. At any rate, the article sent you to the right place (but maybe not the right program you need), but I looked around the site and they have programs to install on a Windows or Mac, depending upon what you need to do.

Yes, sometimes we need to buy software if that will solve the problem.
