I have a WD Element external drive and I can’t set the WD drive as the destination to the videos downloaded from Facebook. The video downloader app says the videos are downloaded successfully but the videos are not on my drive.
This WD drive is connected to a Windows 10 PC and there is no problem to copy files to it. Anyone knows what is the problem and help download facebook videos to computer or my WD external drive?
P.S. my internal drive is almost full and no room for the video files.
Sometimes, the video you download might not be in a format that’s supported by your WD drive. If you download Facebook video on computer and it doesn’t play, that’s a bummer. Windows Media Player can be used for checking the video files. Just drag and drop your new video into it to make sure it’s playing fine.
Download the latest version of youtube-dl.exe from
Open command prompt. Navigate to the folder where youtube-dl.exe is located (if on Windows).
Run the following command: youtube-dl <video_url>
Replace <video_url> with the URL of the Facebook video you want to download. youtube-dl will automatically download Facebook video in the best available quality and save it to your current directory.
Before downloading facebook video to PC or WD drive. Make sure your WD Elements drive is properly connected and recognized by Windows. You can check this by going to This PC and ensuring that the drive appears there. Open your video downloader app and check if there are settings to specify the download location. Make sure you set the output path to a folder on your WD drive.
When it comes to downloading Facebook videos using youtube-dl to a WD (Western Digital) drive, there are a few potential hiccups you might face. If your WD drive is formatted with FAT32 (which is pretty common), there’s a file size limit of 4GB. So, if you’re trying to download a longer video that ends up being larger than that, you’re gonna run into an error.
Depending on your connection and the drive’s performance, writing to an external drive can sometimes be slower than to your internal drive. Sometimes, your drive might not show up as expected in the command prompt. If you’re not in the right location or the system hasn’t recognized it properly, you could be trying to download to a non-existent folder. You might think you’re downloading it, and it’s actually sitting in a weird place. Super frustrating!
Honestly, one of the biggest wins with tools like AllClipDown is how user-friendly they are. You just copy the video link, hit “download,” and boom—it’s on your WD drive. No tech wizardry required! I’ve used some clunky software in the past, and it felt like a maze trying to figure it out. This method is more helpful for beginners who want to download FaceBook videos.
