MyBookLive and MyCloud (Gen 1) could create Safepoint backups on many different types of devices. (I suspect it was on any device supporting SMB 2 but I don’t know for sure.)
As I understand it, MyCloud (Gen 2) does not create Safepoint backups, and the backup function that replaced Safepoint allows remote backup only to multi-bay MyCloud devices. Is that correct?
I’ve read that MyCloud has rsync support but I assume that the MyCloud remote backup process does not use rsync. Otherwise many non-WD devices could be target for the MyCloud backup.
Is there a (supported) way to backup a MyCloud to a non-WD NAS? If not I think I’ll replace my MyCloud with something else.
