I bought the Mybook Live 2 TB yesterday and am wanting to transfer files frhm my two computers wirelessly to the My Book Live. The transfer is SO SLOW. I am getting transfer speeds from my laptop/desktop to the My book live at speeds between 100 kb/second and 300 kb/second.
Also my interest has seemed to slow down.
Could someone please tell me in simple non technical terms how to improve the speed. Is it possible?
Since your MBL is undoubtedly using a wired connection to your router, take your wireless out of the equation by wiring one of the computers to the same router, turning it’s wireless off and noting the transfer speeds.
Wireless really isn’t that good for bulk copy operations and once you see the difference you’ll see why ethernet isn’t dead yet.
Bulk copies from multiple machines will also slow the process down, as the MBL has to switch between the multiple devices in order to write the data to disc.
There must be a way to increase the speed to transfer files wirelessly to the MBL though? It takes more than a couple of hours to transfer a gigabite. If I can’t transfer files wirelessly at a decent speed, the whole purpose of the MBL seems kind of pointless.
I’m not very good with the technical aspects of internet/computers.
I am using ADSL2+. Wifi is run via an internal wifi adapter in my desktop upstairs. The router is situated downstairs. The router is a Belkin N Router.
