I have just set up my new MyBook 2TB onto our home network. I am having problems with the drive ‘disappearing’ and I can’t access it using WD2go or using the iPad apps for photos. Set up is as follows: - MyBook plugged directly into router - router plugged in to phone line Home network is wireless and we also have Ethernet points in some rooms (eg the desktop is plugged in via ethernet port) - desktop PC hard plugged in to Ethernet, running Windows 7 (can discover the drive usually but it comes and goes - issues logging in via user interface) - iMac plugged it to Ethernet or wirelessly, running os x 10.5 (can discover the drive usually but it comes and goes) - Sonos system set up to access music library on the MyBook - sometimes works sometimes unable to access the volume. One of the sonos components is also plugged into the router. - laptop with wireless access - iPad - phone It’s really odd. Sometimes I can’t navigate to the drive as it doesn’t appear. Other times it does. I have been able to access pics via the iPad app intermittently. Sometimes the sonos can’t access the music library. However when The sonos can access the music, I still can’t get wd2go or the photo app to work. I am not sure if there are special settings I need to set up on the router? We have Sky broadband with the router they sent to us. I am not a total novice when it comes to this stuff but I am by no stretch a computer whizz… Any help greatly appreciated!
Can you try plugging the MBL to a different router? You can also try bypassing the router and plug it directly to your Windows 7 computer, and use WD Link to detect the drive. If the issue persists I recommend you to have your MBL replaced at the place of purchase.
