I’d recommend running a diagnostic test using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows. If the hard drive passes the test but still presents the same error message then it’s possible for the device to become corrupted (Which can happen when disconnecting the cable during a file transfer). If so, you may need to erase and format the unit before it can be used again.
