My Passport Ultra suddenly stopped working. Passes tests, but SMART Status Not available 0.00 GB

After working perfectly the drive suddenly stopped working.
I am using Windows 10. Disk Management says Not Initialised.

LifeGuard Tests say:

Test Option: QUICK TEST
Model Number: WD My Passport 0830
Unit Serial Number: [Deleted-privacy]
Firmware Number: 1065
Capacity: 0.00 GB
SMART Status: Not Available
Test Result: PASS
Test Time: 18:36:52, September 11, 2016

Test Option: EXTENDED TEST
Model Number: WD My Passport 0830
Unit Serial Number: [Deleted-privacy]
Firmware Number: 1065
Capacity: 0.00 GB
SMART Status: Not Available
Test Result: PASS
Test Time: 18:37:03, September 11, 2016

The white LED is constantly on.

The Drive is attached to a Laptop based on a desk. The Drive has not been dropped and there have been no electricity surges.

The above have been the only tests I have carried out. I would prefer any tests to be none destructive as somehow I want to rescue the data if possible.

Thanks in advance,

Tony.

Unfortunately, the described behavior points to a hardware failure. SMART status being unavailable indicates there’s an issue between the unit’s controller and internal drives. The unit should be replaced under warranty.

On the other hand, if data recovery is a concern in case there is no backup then I’d recommend contacting a professional data recovery service company.
