Hi, I bought new WD My passport Ultra 3TB external drive for my laptop backup in Dec 2015 from Amazon. I never used it till Feb 2017. But, when I started using it after transfering data 10-20 GB, it stopped working. while transferring also it was getting disconnected frequently. After tansfering 20 GB it stopped working completely. When trying again, it is not detected on my laptop and when internal drive rotates it makes sound like something is broken inside. If anyone had this issue before, please share…

It seems the drive may have suffered some mechanical damage. I recommend you get this drive replaced.
