My Passport problems galore!

My My Passport that I bought this afternoon is having several issues. When I plug it into my PC, it isn’t found under Disk Management, but instead under Device Manager as WD SES Device. After ~45 seconds and several off-and-on sounds from the Passport, my PC makes the USB disconnect sound, and it is no longer listed as the above device. Instead, it now is listed under USB controllers as “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”. During the brief time it is recognized, I’ve tried updating drivers, and none are found. I’ve attempted to download the latest drivers from the web and point it there, and it seems to think that’s what’s already installed. When going to properties for the WD SES Device, it states the Device status as “No drivers are installed for this device”.
I’m at a loss for several things:

  1. why is it not listed as a drive?
  2. why does it state it has no driver installed, when it also states the drivers are up-to-date?
  3. why does it change to an unknown USB device after that short period?

Well the problem is simple where the driver cache size has recently changed. That would be somewhere in 2015 in August. So the driver simply does not initialize. With the proper drivers and firmware you will ether be able to re access the startup or it will continue to give you problems. Overall this is a USB problem, as the data rate is changed for the 3.0 to 4.5 transition for the future. This effects all the harddrives that do participate. Regarding data I do not now how to help or how to recover. Or simply saving the drive data. This problem has recently showed up in the FAQ.
I suggest searching for USB 3.0 information and support.
