My passport is not recognized by any PC

Hello,

Suddenly my passport WD 1TB stopped being recognized by any PC.

After plugging it on a USB port, it seems to be working(the side led lights up) but it has not been recognized by the PC as an external drive. Moreover, insted of the safely remove option there is “Eject HARDWARE ERROR”.

In the Device Manager there is the WD driver Management devices when the Hard Disk is plugged in.

Should I assume that the Hard drive is clinically dead?

Thanks

Best Regards,

Nikos

If you drive spins up normally (with no spin downs and clicks and beeps) and you tried it on other ports/computers, then most likely module 32 is overflown and the drive has pending issue on it. Could be solved like here, or send your drive out for warranty if you dont need the data.

you can try swapping the cable out, but not sure how effective that would be.
