Just purchased 1Tb wd my passport and am having difficulties,backup fails every time and complete drive test cancelled,any ideas?

Hello,

Make sure you have the drive plugged in directly to the computer, avoid using any USB hubs since it may be causing power issues. Also if you are using a desktop computer try connecting it to the back USB just for troubleshooting purposes.

Thanks for that,i’m plugged straight into imac,Ive managed to back up my computer but cant retrieve any data,when i try to retrieve it says “cant open application because it is a time machine backup”

Hello Hamlet,Yes i’m using time machine to retrieve data,I can retrieve my music desktop,e-mails and documents etc,but dont seem to be able to retrieve photographs and videos as yet.
