I backed up my data before having some computer work done. They ended up having to completly wipe my computer clean and start over. I downloaded the WD Smartware and recovered my files. When I try to open up my files they are completely empty. Is there something I am doing wrong or another way to recover my data from MY PASSPORT?

What you mean empty? are you able to see the files and you are not able to open them?
If you goes to the My Passport directly, are you able to see the backup folder and the files inside?
What type of recovery you did? did you try to send the files to the original location or to an specific folder?
