My passport 1TB on Mac - unable to unlock device

Hello all, I’m having trouble with my WD my passport 1TB…

I’ve had it for about 4 years now, and all these years I’ve always enabled the auto unlock feature of my passport.

Last night I tried to access the documents in my passport. During my 1st attempt, I was able to access the device without having to enter any password. However, all my folders are there but all of them appeared to be empty? So I ejected the device and re-connected it to my mac. Then on my 2nd attempt - auto unlock has been disabled?! I kept entering the password but it kept telling me the password is invalid?

Does anyone have any idea what I can possibly do to gain back access to my device? I have some important documents and files in there so I don’t really want to wipe the data off…

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello GinnW,

Unfortunately, there is no recovery password available if used WD Security to protect the drive. I would suggest trying an alternate data recovery tool to recover the important data from the drive, otherwise, need to contact data recovery companies.
