I have a user that I only want to give read only access to the Shared Music folder in the Public share.
In other words, when this user logs on, the only folder I want them to see is the Shared Music folder in read only mode.
Is this possible, If so how?
You cannot impose permissions on folders within the share. You set permissions on the root share. If your model My Cloud supports changing the Public share to something other than public, you would have to make the entire Public share read only to that user. But that would also mean the Public share would require a password and you would have to set permissions on all users that access the Public share as well.
You can put music wherever you like; it does not need to be in one of the Shared folders. IME, it’s better if it isn’t…
Create a dedicated Music share, and give this user read-only access.
