My Cloud NAS drive vs My Book World

Hello,

I have had a My Book World NAS drive for a while now and use it to store music files so my SONOS music system can pull the files even if my iMac isnt switched on.

When opening iTunes on my iMac its quite sluggish - I do have a large music collection - and I wondered if purchasing a more up to date WD Drive such as a My Cloud 2TB drive would improve the speed.

My current My Book World drive is connected to my router via a ethernet cable and I would obviously do the same withe the My Cloud drive also.

Or is there a defrag type program that would work on the drive to maybe speed it up?

Hope you can help

Hi there and welcome to the WD community.

Although in my experience the My Cloud is a newer version NAS drive and is faster than he older My Book World devices

in case you do not want to replace your My Book World yet, you can try to reset the unit to see if this makes it work better over the network, I would like to know if the unit worked better before or if this issue was there from day 1.

If the transfer speed issues you have experienced have been there since day 1 then try to check if the unit is being accessed wirelesses or wired.
