My Cloud is not detected with my Samsung Smart TV

I contacted WD support yesterday with on line chat in order to resolve the above issue.

Unfortunately I am still unable to see WD my cloud on my smart TV.

Here is a brief overview of the LAN set up.

My PC is connected to a switch , my TV is connected to linksys router. Which in turn is connected to the same switch as my PC. The Switch is connected to the provider’s router.

Everything was working fine until the WD Mycloud firmware upgrade OS5. Since the upgrade the LAN can not detect the WD Mycloud. Would anyone be able to advise please?

Isn’t it easier and less obtuse if you just post in the correct subforum (OS5 My Cloud) instead of continuing on this current subforum (OS4 My Cloud Home)?

You would have gotten your answers a lot sooner instead of confusing a lot of Home readers who have never seen a Twonky Media server or a OS5 dashboard, both of which are completely absent and uninstallable on OS4.

The answer is easily found by looking at one or two links to the WD Knowledge Base, and if not, post on the OS5 subforum where there would be numerously more knowledgeable readers who could help on OS5 topics.

IMPORTANT:

  • Twonky must complete the indexing of the content before it can be viewed…
  • The Twonky Server Interface and Settings are not supported by WD Technical Support.

Figure out what WD Device you have that uses OS5. Is it connected to your network? If both devices are on the same network you shouldn’t have any problems.

My Sony TV works fine with both of my WD MY CLOUDS. I select Music or Videos etc. and my shared files from those devices show along with what I share from my computers.

Thank you for your email. It is a WD MYCLOUD that I am using. Below is the screenshot of the home page. Network was working perfectly fine prior to the OS5 upgrade.

I have the same device, but I own my devices, nothing from my service provider. My modem is connected to my Linksys Router and my WDMYCLOUD is connected to the router and has a static (Reserved) address. I haven’t had any problems since updating to OS5. Have you checked TWONKY and what is showing there?

I do have a problem with Twonky on this device and while it shows as a media device on my TV’s it doesn’t show anything for Music or Video. Below is what I have changed in Twonky and will see what happens.

Image One: Twonky was not showing anything for my content so I changed to AutoCopy in Settings and will wait and see if it copies everything from my desktop or older WDMYCLOUD.

Image Two: This shows it is currently scanning the Content Folders. This will take a while.

Thank you for your email.

I have uninstalled Twonky and then reinstalled it.

Same here. I guess I didn’t realize that my 2nd generation on OS5 wasn’t working right since I use my desktop computer the most to stream music and video along with my 1st generation WDMYCLOUD. I’m going to look at OS5 and see what I can figure out.

Thank you for your support. I managed to fix the issue by twigging my network setting ( my PC now is connected to LAN via WIFI).

I finally figured mine out this morning. While it was shown on my TV, I had never selected what I wanted to share. Under Sharing I clicked Browse to /shares and under that selected Horace and saved it. I set it up this morning and now it is scanning. See images below.
