Under OS3, I had the ability to do a graceful shutdown of the EX2 Ultra. I can’t find a similar capability under OS5, only Hibernate and Reboot. I’ve looked through all of the menus. Did I miss it, or is it gone. If it’s gone, who in their right mind would remove the ability to gracefully shutdown the system?
Thanks. I’m assuming then, that if I ‘hibernate’, I can turn off the power and relocated the box.
This feature is unchanged from OS/3.
The EX2 Ultra on OS/3 also has “Hibernate” and “reboot”.
The only reason I would think to make the distinction between hiberante and “shutdown” is the fact that these boxes WILL restart if in hibernate and the power is cycled. (i.e. if you have the unit plugged in after hibernating - - and you get a power blip - - - the unit will power up)
So - if you are moving the box; or swapping power cords, or whatever. . .you want to hibernate the unit first.
I have recently purchased a wd my cloud ex2 ultra running on OS 5. I hibernated the device from the cloud interface. Now I can’t figure out any method of restarting the NAS except by pulling out the power cord and plugging it again. Is this the proper way recommend by WD or the WD engineers simply no longer care?
The lack of a actual power switch or a My Cloud Dashboard “shut down” menu option on the single and multi bay My Cloud units has long been a complaint. Currently WD has the following Support article that explains how to “shut down” a My Cloud device:
My Cloud: Shut Down the Device

Note: For additional help with the EX2 Ultra there is a specific subforum for that device where users more familiar with it may be able to assist with any additional issues.
