I recently purchased a My Book Live 1TB. At the installation everything went fine and it was detected on my network. The troubles came when I started the update. The automated update failed and then I tried the manual one, which seemed to have failed as well. Then I tried to access the drive and no way to do that. It was no longer recognized anywhere, even if I do a direct connection to my PC with the Ethernet cable. I tried with another PC, same problem. The lights on the drive seem to indicate everything is fine (green on the front, blinking green and orange on the back). I guess something went wrong during the update. As I did not add any data to the drive I would like to do a factory restore, but how can I do that without access to the drive? Any help is welcome!
if you plug into your router, and go into your router config page, can you see the device listed?
are you able to get to the shutdown option in quickview? if you disconnect it from everything will it go to sleep? On prior updates I had to manually shutdown>unplug>wait>replug the MBL to do a manual reboot. I just felt better pulling the plug when it was sleeping.
This morning…err, well yesterday morning as it is now almost 3 AM her in New Jersye I woke up and my MBL 2TB was not showing up on my network. Did a bunch of troubleshooting but have been unsucessful at geting anywhere. It now sits attached to my router with its pretty green LED and no access. I’m currious to know if you have found anyting to solve your issue.
When I plug the disk in my router I do not see it listed. There is no IP address assigned by the DHCP server.
I cannot run quickview as the disk is not recognized anywhere. If I disconnect it from everything it does not go to sleep. I tried many times to shut it down and turn it back up but no luck.
I observe that the green light at the back blinks on a regular basis (every second or so), but the front light (which remains green) does not blink at all. I guess this means that the MBL tries to “talk” to the router, but the disk has no activity.
I have a 2wire router connected to a linksys SR2016 10/100/1000 unmanaged switch. The light on the front of the MBL is green, the LAN activity lights are green and amber.
The 2wire does not detect the device connected to any port when connected.
My computer detects that something is connected to the ethernet when I direct connect the MBL, but I cannot access the MBL. The drive is spinning, I can tell by putting my ear up to it and listening for drive spin up.
I have held the reset button for 20 seconds and I’m not sure the device even reboots. I have unplugged it for a week and tried again, with no luck.
oh, when I try to run the install software for the MBL and I click “discover”, I don’t think it even tries to discover. The software immediately goes to “MBL not detected”.
Unfortunately no luck. According to the WD support, the product is bad. I have returned it. They received it on Dec. 6th but still no replacement product shipped as of Dec. 20th… The customer experience is not awesome…
Same issue to me. I have a 2TB my book live. The support guy sent a ridiculoues troubleshooting procedure. I’ve tried other contacts by e-mail without any response from WD guys. If someone has any idea on how to fix that it woulb be fully appreciated.
