OK, let me start by acknowledging that I have been very stupid, I have not backed up the data on my drive elsewhere.
So, my WD My book live is completely dead. I plug it in, no lights, nothing!. I have tested the power adapter on another device and it works fine, so it’s definitely the NAS. I’m guessing that the controller board could be fried?
What I would like to know now is, what are my options? do I even have any with regards to retrieving the data?
Pull the disk out of the drive enclosure. Attach the disk to a SATA-USB adapter and then attach it to your computer. Boot your computer in Linux or install software on your computer that reads Linux formated disks.
