My Book Essentials - Won't power off and isn't recognized by PC

I have a My Book Essentials 2TB that is no longer recognized by either of my PC’s with either of two cables.

With only the power cable attached and plugged directly into the wall, the drive immediately powers up. When I press the power button, the drive turns off for about a second, and then immediately comes back on.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately, it would appear to be a drive power failure. I’d recommend a free replacement under warranty.

Thanks for the response. The drive is out of warranty according to the WD website. Bummer. It sounds like I my bust open the case and pull the drive out and put it in another enclosure.
