We recently purchased a My Book 4TB USB 3.0 (part no.WDBFJK0040HBK-04) and have tried to connect it to a Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise server, but it is not being detected.
We’ve tried to manually install drivers, but no luck. We’ve also tried the SES 64-bit drivers.
Any idea if this drive is compatible. A straight answer from WD staff would be wonderful.
Unfortunately, this external disk drive has not been tested with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, and Western Digital is unable to guarantee compatibility. Is the disk drive detected within Disk Management or with a Micro USB 2.0 cable as opposed to the supplied USB 3.0 cable to trigger generic Windows drivers?
Unfortunately, at this moment Western Digital does not offer USB disk drives certified for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2. On the other hand, the Micro USB 3.0 connector in the unit is backwards-compatible with standard Micro USB 2.0 cables. The Micro USB 3.0 connector was designed to fit Micro USB 2.0 cables using only half of the physical port, leaving the rest of the connector empty.
