My Book, 2TB, suddenly stopped working

Hi there.

I was copying around 30 GBs of data from my mobile to My Book. At this time, I tried to copy another file of around 1 GB from My Book to an external USB, and then every transfer froze, I had to force quit everything.

After this, now whenever I connect My Book, the drive icon shows up and the windows explorer toolbar just keeps showing the loading/progress bar which never finishes. Even the storage capacity is never shown and the drive is never accessible.

I am really worried about my data now, is there any fix for this?

I have tried different PCs but the same issue persisted.

Hello.

The file system on the drive may have got damaged. You could try 3rd party data recovery software and reformat the drive after recovering the data:

Thank you for replying. I got the drive checked, one of the 8 heads is damaged. Any solution for that?
