Hello,
I recently purchased a 3rd WD TV for my bedroom. As soon as I plugged it in and did the setup I noticed it was missing the Netflix app.
I tried doing the network update of the firmware with no success. Tried loading version 2.01.86 which is what my other two are running. Formatted 3 different USB drives in FAT32, extraced the files to the root of the USB’s, turned the WD TV off, plugged the usb drives in and powered it on without success.
It’s currently stuck on version 1.02.17 and browsing to the downloads page shows that’s the latest available version.
I’m beyond lost on what is going on for there to be no Netflix app available.
Also found a few other posts on here about the same issue, a few saying the firmware 1.04 fixed the issue, however I cannot find that version anywhere.
Netflix is not supported on the new 2014 WDTV (you should have searched the forum and done some homework before purchasing it)
and no, you can’t load 2.01.86 Firmware onto it
Does WD provide any other device that does support it?
Kind of seems like a backwards move for them.
Seriously, how did the company think it was a good idea to not include the highest used streaming service in the world? I have a previous model that not only has the app, it has a dedicated button for it on the remote. It’s either an oversight, a stupid ■■■■■■■ move or you couldn’t afford it. If money was the issue, they could’ve just not included all the other garbage apps like “anyclip” or “comedy something” that nobody will ever use. Netflix, though, everyone uses. Up until now I only bought WD equipment. Now it looks like I might have to buy a Roku, and I hate Rokus so thanks for that.
