I’m looking for stand-alone or package unit camera’s that will record their footage to my MyCloud drive. I have the 3 TB single drive unit with latest firmware (4.05.00-315).
Every camera I’m finding on Amazon wants to upload data to the manufacturer cloud service which costs extra money or it has a SD card slot to record footage there which a thief could just take the SD card and I lose my recordings.
I have my MyCloud unit locked up with a Kensington lock so it’s secure. Thief won’t be taking it so that’s why I want recordings to go there. Also because it’s free storage and I have 2 TB free to use on my drive.
You may need to read the actual user manuals for each of the cameras you are researching on Amazon to determine if they can save their recordings to an NAS device (likely using FTP).
Many IP cameras will have the ability to save to a local network device like a My Cloud using FTP or Samba/similar protocol. They may not openly advertise this in an effort to push their monthly rental cloud storage service.
