I have just purchased WD Elements 2 TB External Drive. The drive came with a USB cable that is only 12 inches long. I need a 3 ft cable, but need to know the very exact name for the cable. One end is a familiar USB connection, but the other end is a connection that I am not familiar with.
best, Aarn
Well, that entirely depends on WHICH Elements 2TB drive you purchased.
It could be a Mini USB, or a Micro USB3.0… If it’s BLUE, then it’s the Micro-USB3.0.
trivia: you can use a USB 2.0 Micro B with a USB 3.0 Female Socket … but of course you’ll only get USB 2.0 Bus Speed
thank you for your quick reply. the WD box that enclosed the hard drive says only
WD Elements Basic Storage 2 TB
There is no other description. The size of the drive is a little larger than a package of playing cards or cigarettes. Best, Aaron ***********************************************************************

Look on the back of the harddrive and you will see a Part Number aka. Model Number
P/N: WDB
if it’s any one of these on WD’s Website … then they are ALL USB3.0
