Latest Firmware

I recently updated to latest firmware 1.06.34B and now nothing works correctly. I am unable to log in to netflix or use the media server. Media player is currently useless since music does not play correctly and can’t view movies. System takes a long time to boot and for the menu to show. I have had to manually disconnect (unplug)  the media player a number of times to get it to load. Once the system loads I can see the menus and move around without problems. However, internet media has less choices: YouTube does not work “hangs” and Netflix does not work “hangs.” I have not tried the others since I don’t use them.

I am now considering other options since the latest firmware has made the media player useless. I am looking at other media devices and would like suggestions from the community on which device would be a good replacement for the WD plus.

Anyone interested in a used bricked device? Thanks WD!

Thanks to the community here I was able to download and reinstall the prior firmware and it revived my box. Stay away from the current firmware. It will kill your media player.

Just follow the directions from the crew here and download the previous firmware. Extract the files. Open the ver file with a text editor for example Notepad and rename the version  to a number higher than 34. Save the file. Place all files in a usb drive and connect to WD box. The box will detect the new version. Install it and your WD box will work again. Caution the WD box will ask you once it load that a new version of the firmware is available. Skip it and continue to load menus.

Your WD box is back again and ready to go.
