Laptop does not recognise My Book 1.5 TB

Wehn I try to use my WD My Book on my laptop, it will only recognise if  I remove the battery from my laptop and then reboot.

Has anyone had this problem?    Anyone know what is causing it ?   Could it be a bad usb cable ?

This drive has been working perfectly till just this week.
