I do not use any of my MCs and MCHs as Cloud Devices, just as simple NASs.
For now, I am not greatly concerned with the fact that I cannot access MANAGE DEVICE:
Not on Local Network
In order to edit settings you must be connected to the
local network to access the Device Configuration
Webpage.
I am seeking information on what options are available to me behind that temporarily-locked “MANAGE DEVICE” door.
A detailed text description? Page capture(s)? Best of all would be a URL to detailed info on the subject.
Who knows? There may be nothing in there that I would be interested in altering. If that is the case, I could save time just not bothering with it, y’know?
Thanks!
Hi @y0ungbl00d,
Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:https://support-en.wd.com/app/ask
Naaahhhh. It is not that important enough to me to engage those folks.
I figured that it was worth asking those here just in case any of that info is readily available somewhere that I have not (yet) found.
As I have been doing since November, I can easily map & access my MCHs as they are and without access to “Manage Device”. … so long as the HDD will Sleep when inactive.
Thanks, Keerti_01!
With an eye to the DropDeadDate, the paucity of responses to this Thread and the possibility of losing Support priviledges, I posed the following at https://support-en.wd.com/app/ask yesterday:
@SUBJ: “MANAGE DEVICE” … I can get to connection type Direct & Relay but, so far, not Local
I would like to get into MANAGE DEVICE (newly available to me following a 9.4.0-191 Update) to see what options are available to me.
I have tried multiple config combinations and none have produced a connection type of “Local” which, apparently, is required to access “MANAGE DEVICE”.
I have tried with the Router set with UPnP both On & Off. Also with the deadend webpage (accessed with the device’s IP addy + Browser) that offers only an option to toggle “Local network access”.
I have tried with the MyCloudHome connected to a Switch and directly to the Router. No Joy.
I am seeking guidance that will help me discover the path to a Local connection type.
Thank you!
