Could you please create a firmware update where LOCAL NETWORK ACCESS is enabled?
You could solve in one shot the problems caused by this outage and simultaneously give us a way to access after the end of the support (June 2023) in case of a factory reset.
not only that but also a SMB server with a default user, since I learnt from another owner of MCH that if you need to create a SMB user, you need authentication from WD ! how can you disable support without giving on time a disaster recovery policy to the users?
Why? I am sure WD is capable of compiling a new kernel with a “LAN access enabled” parameter by default and the cloud users can download via secure Web storage and update their systems via bootable USB media.
Don’t you think that is a more viable solution for the users not to suffer more and lose more of their time on recovering personal/business data stored on the drives? Why are you still insisting on directing users to go to cloud and enable just one parameter?
More clever mind sets, wisdom and practically skills are required on WD’s operations and team members. But instead, they prefer to lose reputation and business. It is very sad for such a big company!
Please, given that, tell me what happens after June 2023, when MHC support ends. Does MHC not work as happened these days? My only way is to have enabled local network access, and if I did not enable it for that date or for some reason I need a factory reset, my device and data are lost forever. Correct?
Does this mean for Windows, access via File Manager will go away?
But via web browser will still work?
Those are 2 different and separate storage trees - cannot access filemanager-files from browser and vice-versa!
(First week seeing this notice of stopping capability)
Local FileManger access DIFFERENT files/fileStructure than local-WebBrowser.
What happens to these files and fileStructure created with FileManager after June 2023? How do we access those files?
Again, they are not accessible via webBrowser.
" Can I continue to use the software after June 2023?
If you already have WD Discovery installed, you will no longer be able to mount your My Cloud Home device as a local drive, however users can use local network access."
