iPad storage problem

Hi all, I’m new to this but have a little problem with my my passport wireless. When I followed the instructions on the YouTube videos relating to file transfers between my MPW and iPad I transferred 5 videos to my MPW but now it seems the files have been stored in the my cloud app on my iPad which is now taking up 20gb of video. I thought the whole point was to transfer files over using the app but have them stored on the hard drive itself. Can anyone advise me please?

Did you delete them from the My Cloud app after they were transfered?

Check the DOWNLOADS tab and see if they’re still there.

If so, delete them from the Downloads section.

If not, then clear the cache from the App’s settings.

Unfortunately iOS “sandboxes” files with the App that created or imported them. Which means only that App can see the files. There are some exceptions, where an App can “Send To” another App so it can use the file, and even some that “Save To” the camera roll location, or albums on the iPad.

But essentially when you download videos from the MPW using the MyCloud App, you have to play those videos with the MyCloud App. See this thread for more discussion.

If you didn’t want the videos on your iPad taking up 20Gb of space in the main memory (it isn’t really a hard drive), and just wanted to play the videos, then you should have just browsed the MPW and played them using the MyCloud App. Or you could use any other App that is DLNA compliant, if DLNA is turned on in the MPW, and play using that App.

Search or read a few threads around here and you will find some recommended Apps for streaming video from the MPW to your iPad, such as Infuse. Start by reading this thread

Oh, and if you didn’t want to fill up your iPad with videos, delete them from the iPad once you have worked out how to stream them instead of dwnloading them.
