I have a MB Asus I 970 Pro Gaming / AURA RTL motherboard running win 7 Ultimate program 64 bit. I’m trying to install the WD 6 TB Black internal desk drive as main boot drive. Tried changing format on drive, change bio’s etc… I guess I’m asking for help for procedure to see if I done it in wrong sequence or missed something. What I ended up with was 2 partitions, one 2.2tb, and one 3tb. When I install to one side or the other you can’t initialize the other part of disk. Did I format the disk wrong or … HELP!
That can happen if you initialize the hard drive using MBR as opposed to GPT. Write zeros to the hard drive using Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics or any other low-level format utility, and your hard drive will be treated as “new”.
Trancer, Thank-You for your response. I will contact my tech who is doing this for me when he returns from his business trip. I know he did change it to GPT but I don’t know if he done it after first initializing it as MBR. When he returns I will relay to him what you sent. I will keep you posted. Thanks again
I bought a pc from someone, its Azza IBUYPOWER Window 10, everything works well etc… but i noticed it didn’t have storage for anything of my new games i downloaded and wanted to play, so i bought a brand new WD_Black 6TB hard drive Disk, but when i take the previous hard drive which is a Y-20 solid stata drive and hookup the new one i just bought it just takes me to a black screen saying to reboot the pc etc etc… so im wondering if anyone could help me out pls.
