I need to open a WD Anywhere .dcm file

My WD drive (the newest one) backed up files, thank heaven because my motherboard died as did my hard drive.  With all that fixed, I accessed some files but the program will not recognize the drive these are on and will not let me access the one set of files I need with my will in it.  I can see it in Windows 7 My Computer on the WD drive.  I have tried copying it to the drive WD Anywhere does recognize but it still won’t open it.  IS THERE AY OTHER WAY I CAN OPEN THIS OR GET IT SO THE ORIGINAL NOTE PROGRAM CAN OPEN IT PLEASE.  I am sick and it is my will, and it seems, the only copy now because I cannot find the copies I put on my old computer.

HELP

You will need to use the same software that you used to backup the files…

Make sure that you have the same version of the software.

I use My Book Live to store images in the Shared Pictures file.  I did not use any software to back them up…I just used drag and drop to put them in the folder.  They have been there for quite some time and now when I need them I discover that they are unusable with dcm extensions.  I have a massive number of images stored on this drive. Not all of them have this problem but it looks like most of the older ones do.  What can I do?
