I recently did a clean install of windows 11 on a new SSD and now I can access the public folder on my Mybooklive, but I can see no files. I can still access them on my other laptop.

Both laptops have Windows 11. The one that isn’t working was a clean install on a new SSD. Before that, it had no problem accessing the files on the Public Folder. Interestingly, when I try to map the public folder on that laptop, it shows the subfolders of the Public Drive when I’m choosing the folder to map.
And also, Treesize free sees the whole folder structure of the Public Folder on the same laptop. It is running as administrator.
If your MyBookLive files aren’t showing on Windows 11, try this:
Enable SMB 1.0: Control Panel → Programs → Turn Windows features on/off → check SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support, then restart.
Turn on Network Discovery and File Sharing in Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced sharing settings.
Reconnect using File Explorer: type \MyBookLive\Public.
Your files should now appear.
Thanks, DataWizard0103, but still no files. SMB was off and I’ve turned it on. Network Discovery and Filesharing were both on already.
Try these quick fixes:
Map drive with credentials → File Explorer > This PC > Map Network Drive > \MyBookLive\Public → connect with username/password.
Adjust auth → Run secpol.msc → Local Policies > Security Options > set LAN Manager auth level to Send LM & NTLM – use NTLMv2 if negotiated.
Enable guest logons → Run gpedit.msc → Computer Config > Admin Templates > Network > Lanman Workstation → enable Insecure guest logons.
Use IP instead of name → \192.168.x.x\Public (replace with your MyBookLive’s IP).
DataWizard0103, thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I only have windows 11 Home edition so no secpol.msc or gpedit.msc. I tried the other two fixes and it made no difference. Still stumped.
Please refer to the link I posted above. If you have Home edition, you can still set the values using Powershell.
a. On the Start Menu search, type powershell then under the Windows PowerShell app, click Run as administrator. Accept the elevation prompt.
b. To disable SMB signing requirement, type:
Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false
d. Hit enter, then hit Y to accept.
c. To disable guest fallback, type:
Set-SmbClientConfiguration -EnableInsecureGuestLogons $true
e. Hit enter, then hit Y to accept.
At this point you will be working if Signing or Guest were your real problems.
Saudade, DataWizard0103, that has fixed it. It was an SMB issue. Thanks a million to both of you for your help and patience. It’s much appreciated. Is it safe to leave the SMB as an insecure login and as allowing guest logins?
Check network settings or permissions ensure both laptops are on the same network and have equal access to MyBookLive forSpotify Unlimited use.
Glad it’s working! Leaving SMB open with guest logins is not very secure, it can expose your files to anyone on the network. If possible, it’s better to create a user account on the MyCloud and use password-protected access. That way you get the connection without leaving it wide open.

I use a USB hard disk, safer than some SSD or cloud crud as the old standard server class disk is reliable. I have several disks for redundant copies.
Thanks Vegan. I also use a USB hard disk as a second backup, but it we have 3 laptops on our home network and it is very handy to have all the data in one place on the NAS drive, accessible at all times from any of the laptops.
