Hi everyone. Is there a way to unformat the WD My Book? And use it? I accidentally format the hard drive. I’m so disappointed.
Hi ralphjrx77,
There is no way to unformat any drive. You may need to contact any data recovery company if you wish to have the data recovered.
Actually… I did it. And it works. Thanks for replied.
Hi ralphjrx77 ,
Glad to hear the issue has resolved. Appreciate the feedback.
Thank You!
Install software (Recuva for example) on a different drive (not the one you’re recovering from), and scan the formatted drive for lost files. I found that tip and many others in this blog https://www.hаndyrecovery.com/unformat-hard-drive/ . It helped me to avoid losing my files.
If you want to recover your data then you’ll have to try data recovery software, like Stellar, Easeus, Recuva, or DiskDrill, or otherwise, you can just reformat it using your computer’s disk tool You can also check for any WD software that came with your drive, it might help restore it. If you’re stuck, contact WD support. They can walk you through getting your drive working again. Just know one thing this is a prevalent issue and you can use your drive again.
To unformat your WD My Book after accidentally formatting it, stop using the drive to avoid overwriting data. Then, download recovery software like Stellar Data Recovery, Recuva, or Disk Drill. Install the software on a different drive, connect your WD My Book, and run the recovery program to scan for files. After the scan, choose the files you want to recover and save them to a different drive. Finally, check that the recovered files are working.
No way to do this unless you have an exact copy of the disk.
