I bought an WD Ultrastar Refurbished enterprise HDD on ebay.
Do you guys know how to test the hard drive for bad sectors and stuff?
I used the Western Digital Dashboard to run the SMART quick and extended test but when I click on continue to see the results, nothing happens. I contacted WD Support, they said Dashboard is not compatible with Ultrastar.
I am using Windows 11 and Windows 10 pro.
Any help will be appreciated.

I’m also dealing with this issue. It’s frustrating that the Western Digital Dashboard isn’t compatible with the Ultrastar drives. I’m looking for reliable methods to test for bad sectors and other issues on my refurbished enterprise HDD. If anyone has suggestions or tools that work well on Windows 10/11, I’d really appreciate the help!

Find a Win7 machine and google about DLGDIAG
I have 4 Ultrastar drives, two 18TB, and two 10TB ( one being old enough to still have Hitachi on the label ), and I’m able to use dashboard to run SMART tests on all of them. Just an FYI, I’m using the most recent version but I didn’t seem to have a problem with previous versions either…
I find Seatools v5 is able to wipe a hard disk which seems to be able to refresh performance to some extent. I have not see WD come out with such a tool yet.
I just ran Dashboard’s quick SMART test on an Ultrastar HD HC550, and it gave results. It said no problems found; clicking on “To view SMART data in detail click here” gave numbers for reassigned sector count, power-on hours, drive power cycles, helium monitor, temp, & SATA/PCIe CRC error count.
If Dashboard doesn’t work for you, try Kitfox, which replaced Dashboard. It’s a free download somewhere on wd.com .
