How to safely shutdown MyCloud

There IS a shutdown script on the v2.x single bay My Cloud. It is:
/usr/local/modules/script/shutdown.sh

See the following posts from the thread in my prior post that indicates it DOES appear to work to some extent.

Another method using SSH:

There is also discussion of unhiding the code in the CSS file that hides the shutdown option from the v2.x single bay My Cloud Dashboard in that Safe Shutdown thread.

There have been calls since the v2.x single bay My Cloud was released to bring the shutdown option back. It is IN the CSS coding but for some reason WD decided to hide it. There is even a Cloud Ideas post from over a year ago asking WD to bring it back…

As I need to change up my response as their BOT defender won’t allow three of the same exact messages,

another who has found this distressing business of no shutdown facility, and here is W.D.'s latest response, I know it’s a bit late but has anyone got this sort of response or are willing to escalate this? I doubt this will ever be rectified but one may hope

Yes.

Welcome to the crazy world of WD.

WD Quick View will NOT install on macOS Sierra however there is a workaround:

Right click on the installer and click on Show Package Contents.
Go to Resources folder.
You will find the installer WD Quick View Installer.mpkg
Ignore the installer security msg and allow install via System Preferences, Security
Shutdown option will now be available from dropdown menu

@NavC I don’t have any Apple products in use.

this post with the code edits were so helpful today after updating to Os5, thank you very much man!!!
and hopefully the devs can read this and use it for a useful firmware upgrade for us

A very simple method to safe shutdown WD My Cloud PR4100 Firmware v 5.0.9.115, is

Step-1 - Enable SSH from GUI

Step-2 - Now login through SSH , and run shutdown.sh script from terminal
SSH Login_WDpr4100

sshd is the default username for ssh access.
