It depends on what type of protection you have. If I wanted to get rid of all the information I have on mine I would start by selecting all four shares and then use my McAfee to shred everything. See example image below. Click on, tap, or activate image to enlarge it. If you plan on using it again for your home network then don’t delete the User/administrator. Check out more information, Help, in the Dashboard.

Remember, your My Cloud is a computer so delete things the same way you would on your other computers.

That article you found is for an different device. The My Cloud Home is different than a My Cloud device. The My Cloud Home device has different operating system (not OS3 and not OS5) along with different features and options.

On a OS3 My Cloud, if one wants to erase the entire hard drive of user data, one can use the My Cloud Dashboard > Settings > Utilities > System Factory Restore and choose Quick Restore or Full Restore to erase ALL of the user data on their My Cloud device. A Quick Restore does not securely wipe the user data. A Full Restore is supposed to securely wipe the user data according to WD.

One can mouse over the information icon (InfoIcon) in the System Factory Restore section to see more information about what each of the three restore options does.

See the following WD Knowledge Base Articles on using Factory Restore.

If you don’t know how to access the My Cloud Dashboard, see the following WD Knowledge Base Article.

How to Access the Dashboard on a My Cloud Device
https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27432

For deleting individual folders and files one can use Windows File Explorer or Mac Finder to access their My Cloud and delete folders and files. One can also access the My Cloud Dashboard > Shares tab and remove a individual Share which likewise will delete all that Share’s contents. One can also use third party data wiping programs to erase or securely wipe data within individual My Cloud Shares.

WARNING: You proceed at your own risk by deleting, erasing or wiping all user data. Once the data is erased one may not be able to recover any of that data!!! It is wise to backup any data on a My Cloud device before performing a Quick Restore or Full Restore.

Thanks!
Will I be able to setup it after full erase or with only local access islt is not possible? Thanks

Yes you will be able to access and setup a My Cloud after one triggers a Quick Restore or Full Restore. One would access the My Cloud Dashboard post restore and configure the device as needed.

Note: Performing a Quick Restore or especially a Full Restore may take a significant amount of time.
