How to eject unlocked MyPassport Ultra without WD software installed?

I am testing a My Passport Ultra 2TB to be used by our employees as an encrypted drive. On their own computers they will have the WD software installed so they can set the password for the drive. But when the use the drive on somebody else’s computer, the WD software won’t be on that PC, and they can use the WD drive unlock.exe from the virtual CD to make the drive accessible.
But how can the drive be safely ejected again on such a computer? The eject option is not available on the drive letter and the WD drive unlock.exe has no option to lock again or to eject. (i am using Windows 8.1)

thanks in advance,
Ewald…

Hello,

When you connect the drive on a new computer and you unlock that drive, the OS it self, should give you the option to safely eject the drive. It should be on the bottom right side on the task bar.

yes, that is what you would expect, but for some strange reason the drive doesn’t have the eject option when you rightclick on the driveletter, nor is the drive visible in the eject mobile media icon on the bottom right side.
On the other hand, there is no complaint from the OS when i just plug out the drive, normally you get the warning about improper detaching the device.
