I just got a My Passport. I did not install Smartware. I just plugged it in to my USB port and copied a bunch of files and folders from my C: drive to the Passport. I then looked at the Passport and the files/fiolders were there. I unplugged, re-formatted my hard drive, re-installed Windows and then went to passport to find my files…and the Passport is EMPTY. What did I do wrong?

The only way you can have the passport empty is if you also re formatted it with your computer.-
If the drive was disconnected when you formatted PC it should be OK. If you reformatted the external then the files are gone. Is Windows updated and what version XP Windows 7? Look in disk management and see if the drive shows up there. It may need a drive letter assigned or be put on line.
