How do I fix the drive icon?

Greetings,

After I installed My Cloud (p/n: wdbctl0080hwt-10), Windows 7 Update had a new update for me:

Western Digital Corporation - Other hardware - WD My Cloud Network Storage

I installed the update. As far as I can tell, the only thing it did was change the drive icon in Windows Explorer. However, after I restarted my computer, the drive icon is back to a generic one. How do I get it back to the customized WD icon? I’m assuming I’ll need the icon and a autorun.inf file.

Thanks,
Shane.

Hello,

Are you able to identify what specific software was updated? The unit will work the same way with the icon or without it.

There is no additional information provided with this update.

My unit is still working, but I’m wondering if it’s possible to change the drive icon in Windows Explorer to the My Cloud icon (instead of the generic network folder icon).

Thanks,
Shane.

Hi,

Does resetting the unit makes any changes?

I made a mistake. The drive icon is changed in Network, but wasn’t isn’t in Computer.

I thought I could create an autorun.inf file, and copy it and an icon to My Cloud. However, when I copied the files over, they lost their file attributes (system and hidden). I’m guessing that this is because the drive is not formatted as NTFS.

Does an autorun.inf file only work on a NTFS drive?

Thanks,
Shane.
