@jchen thanks for your answer. But can I hide one specific folder on my public drive? For example in my photos folder I want to hide my documents folder so I won´t see him in the photos tab.
@pase273, the Photos tab will show all the photos/videos available to you from the NAS in a flat file structure. It does not allow you to pick a specific folder or share only. You can only do that from the File/Folders tab.
It’s a stupid feature from WD. I disabled the mobile web and app access for backup folders and restricted to admin access only, but all photos are showing up on EVERY SINGLE CELL PHONES. I back up files weekly. Imagine that! All duplicated photos show up. This issue has been going on since 2013. WD is too stubborn or too stupid to correct this problem. Maybe it will take another class action lawsuit to get it right!
Sounds like you may have one of your shares set to Public. When a share is set to Public in OS 3, all users will see the content in the Web and Mobile App.
My Cloud OS 5 allow you to set the share to Public but disable “Mobile and Web Cloud Access” at the share level.
No. I don’t share anything public except the public folder. As I said, all the duplicated photos show up on cell phones are from the backup folders which is restricted to admin and local only. The system should automatically change the file’s attributes according to the folder restrictions. This is the same issue since 2013. People complain about it, and you guys did nothing to fix it. It’s a security and privacy issue. You guys need to fix it!
OK, this sounds like all of your cell phone auto-backup to the same Share on the My Cloud and you are using the ‘admin’ user name and email address to login using the mobile apps on all of your phones. Is that accurate?
IE:
PhoneA auto backup to Share1
PhoneB auto backup to Share1
PhoneC auto backup to Share 1
etc…
No. Each user uses his/ her own folder to backup photos. i.e.
User1 → PR4100/user1
User2 → PR4100/user2
… etc.
In backup folder (admin only, now mobile web or app access):
PR4100/Backup/backup user1
PR4100/Backup/backup user2
… etc.
No share between users, but all photos+duplicates show up on every single cell phone!
@home858 In OS 5, if the “Backup” share was set to Public, then all users will see this content when they login to their mobile app under “Files and Folders” and “Photos” view.
When “Backup” share is set to ‘admin’ only, users will no longer see the “Backup” share under the Files and Folder view immediately (screen refresh required). However, it will take some time before the content is purged from their Photo Views. The article listed below explains the process with example.
You just don’t get it! The backup folder was never set to be public, and yet all the photos are indexed to Mycloud.com. Why? The indexing should filter out any files not in public share. Period!
That’s what I’m trying to figure out, but are unable to duplicate the issue you are describing.
Please collect your system logs, and send to support with more detailed information on how you are using the device. I’m assuming…mobile phone auto backup to Share1 and then once a week Internal Backup to a Backup share on the same device.
I already have the system logs generated. Tell me what information you are looking for. I won’t send you the file with all the user names and email addresses. As I said, each user has only the read/ write right to his/ her own folder. Not the backup folder. But, everyone can see ALL photos from any folder regardless of the access restrictions.
