Having deleted a share on Mycloud I find the main share has also gone. I removed the HDD put in a caddy and ran a Ubuntu dvd in an older computer. The disk is visible and all shares are found although the original share is marked with an X. Unfortunately so is the main share. On trying to open the important one a message pops up that I cannot access this share as I’m not the owner. I am going to try a recovery of the deleted share but, not being too familiar with Ubuntu, the instructions to install rescue programs have so many unfamiliar options which are confusing to say the least. Anyone know of a simple way to install something like Test Disk or Mondo Rescue and will they be able to restore files that are in the important share? Thanks for any assistance

Hi @Branlew,
I regret to inform you that WD Drives are not tested with Ubuntu operating systems.
Also, Western Digital does neither cover Data Recovery under its warranty policy nor has any in-house data recovery service.
