Help! WD My Book 3TB not recognized by my WD TV Media Player?

Hi Guys,

This is my first post. I have had my WD TV Media player for about a year now and it works fine with my 1.5TB HDs. I just got a 3TB for Xmas and plugged it in just now and the media player will not recognize it. I did some research and it looks like i was reading old posts where the WD media player will not support the HD bigger than 2TB. Is this still the case? Is there any firmware updates i can download? I hope so, i was looking forward to keeping all my movies on 1 HD rather than 2 or 3. Thanks in advance.

What model is your WD TV?

i don’t see a model number, i turned over the box and it say WD TV Live Hub Media center, 2711C?

Yes, firmware updates made 3TB drives supported. 

You can get the firmware here, if your box isn’t doing it itself…

Any change the WDTV HD MEDIA PLAYER Gen 2 will be getting an update enabling it to support 3TB WD My book dives?

Slim to none…  It’s a Legacy device.
