Help using MyCloud for external HDD backup and Sonos

Hello,

I’m on a Windows 10 laptop and have just bought a MyCloud Home to back-up most of my files, which are predominantly stored on an external HDD.

I currently manage all of my music using iTunes, the library for which is stored on the external HDD. I plan on backing this up to my new MyCloud Home so that I can access all of my music via Sonos.

If I create the initial backup by connecting the HDD to the MyCloud and transferring files across using the mobile app, is there then a means of getting the MyCloud to sync any further changes made to the HDD when it’s connected to my laptop at a later date? Or would I need to make the initial backup via the mobile app for it to do this?

For example, if I add new files (songs) to my iTunes library on the HDD, am I able to get the MyCloud to automatically back these up in its Sonos library? (I understand that I would need to get Sonos to refresh its index to find these).

Similarly, when I add new photos to the HDD, how do I ensure that the NAS automatically backs these up?

Thanks!

you can use the mobile app to copy data from a USB drive to the MCH. See the instructions below

With WD discovery you can sync specific folders to the MCH. See below. However this sync feature is not supported for removable drive like a USB drive. Since the drive can be removed this make syncing problematic. In order to sync the music to the MCH you would need to have the data on an internal drive in the computer.

To use Sonos with the MCH you will need to install the My Cloud Home Service in the Sonos device. This is currently only available for US, UK, and Germany regions.
