Sorry if I’m posting this incorrectly…I’m new to this. 
Question: I’ve owned my WD My Passport External Drive for over 10 years. It was lost in our family home for years, but recently found. When trying to get into the drive, it appears the “drive unlock” and “WD Smartware” apps/icons specifically are locked out. When clicking in it states “WD Smartware needs to be updated”…so logically I tried to do this, but was unsuccessful. I have a MAC so attempted to update based on the available my device, but nothing seems to work. I believe when I last updated it in 2009 on a 2010 MAC (way old school) BUT also saved items from a PC so not sure it shifting/saving between the devices has an influence on the current issues.
Any suggestions on a specific threat or precise actions I can take to troubleshoot myself?
I’m not overly technical but can understand basic platform functionality, so just trying to identify the alignment of the proper software update (process/link/download)
