Hello, anyone for WD out there?

Hi WD if you are listening

I would like to know if there is an known issue with the WDEP supporting “uncompressed” HD content from BLU Rays? I have one of these players and it can’t play a MKV rip from a BLU Ray film without juddering every few seconds or the audio slipping from the image. In fairness this happens in all video formats but currently I use MKVs as I can convert the DTS to audio using MKV auidio ripper to stereo as before I had no audio or blind commentry and audio because I could not convert the DTS to work properly or could only convert the AC-3 part of the film. But that for now is sorted but the image issues won’t go away!

Is this to do with the chip not being able to handle the high bitrates as with DVDs it is fine?

The firmware not being available?

Something other you may be able to suggest?

And if it is chip can I return the item under false advertisment?

If it is the firmware when can we expect and update or is there even something being worked on?

Anything to give people on this forum a shed of light into the whole issue as there seems to be no info whatsoever.

Many thanks in advance.

What is the false claim?

"Supported formats are pretty much the same as the existing WD TV Range , so it can play the most common media files up to 1080p, and the device also features DVD menu navigation.

I’m still not following you.

What was the source for the first quote?    I don’t see that on WDC’s website.

Other than DTS, I don’t see any claims in the other info that aren’t true…

Claims? Is someone supposed to be satisfied paying over $200 for a drive that doesn’t do what most in the market consider as standard? It does not support 24p movies. We came to that conclusion already. There is nothing else more important than this.
