Hard drive controller broken

I see this has been posted before, but I never saw a solution. So here is my issue:

My Book 3TB HD is dropped by kids. Controller card is smashed, but drive is ok. Plug it into a computer and can’t see anything on it. I bought another My Book 3TB exact same model #WDBACW0030HBK-NESN but slightly different part numbers

Old Part # WDBACW0030HBK-00

New Part #WDBACW0030HBK-01

I could be wrong on the old part number (I don’t have it in front of me right now), but I think it is something like that. When I plugged the old drive into the new case and plugged it in it recognized it as a new drive. Didn’t see the old data on it. So does anyone have a solution on how to get this piece of garbage to work again? Also why on earth do they use hardware encryption on a home user external drive. I’m assuming just to be jerks.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Andy

I am sorry to hear about what happened. I believe that the WD drives that are compatible with their WD Smartware software are encrypted, therefore I don’t think you will be able to retrieve the data by connecting the old internal drive on a new case or as an internal drive on the computer. I am guessing you will need data recovery or something like that.

I hope the link below is helpful somehow.
