Git for EX2 Ultra

Hi,

I’ve just purchased an EX2 Ultra device and have now discovered that Git is not available as a 3rd party app. I am hoping to find a way to install this as it is already supported by the EX2 device. I was wondering if anyone knows what the differences between the EX2 and EX2 Ultra are and why it is that the standard EX2 git app doesn’t work on the EX2 Ultra,

Thanks,

James

Hello there,

check the following link to see if it is helpful for you:

This will show the difference between each MyCloud model.

Hope this helps you out

Hey,

Thanks for the response but this doesn’t answer the question I’m afraid. This simply illustrates that there are very few differences between the ex2 and the ex2 ultra, and so I am still unsure why git is unavailable for the ex2 ultra

This might not be guaranteed to work, since I don’t have a similar unit to test, but download this package and report back:

Thanks for that. Unfortunately it says ‘Failed to install app’. I have a feeling it would be compatible, but unfortunately installing through the dashboard doesn’t seem to work. Is there another way to try this?

There might be, but I’m not sure about them. Those .bin files are packaged archives that are extracted internally by the unit, but I can’t extract them on my end to edit or repack, so I’m out of options, sorry. Chalk it down to one of those silly market segmentation idiocies by WD.

Thanks for the advice. That’s a real shame. Would be great to hear from wd about this to see what the reasoning is!

Thanks for the link. installed it on MyCloud Mirror gen2, after a little Hex editing.

@rzrbld Could you explain in detail what you have changed ?

@fede there more details in this thread: How to install git server on my WD My Cloud Mirror Gen 2 - #4 by rzrbld
