Fox_exe custom firmware still trustworthy?

Hey folks, I have a WD MyCloud Gen 1 which I would like to install a custom Linux on (with OMV). The best I’ve found so far is the stuff made by a guy named Fox_exe. Now call me… uh… racist? I don’t know… Paranoid maybe. But… Guy’s Russian. I’m not saying he personally would do anything intentionally, but, you know, Russian authorities can be… quite convincing if they want you do something for them. Thus, question is, is the stuff that he made still trustworthy?

No offense meant, really. I just do not want to install anything malicious on my storage…

Hi @HWiese

This is hardly a support case. It’s a question to the community whether Fox_exe’s work is still considered safe, in the face of the ongoing war with his homeland. Again, I don’t accuse him of anything, but his government - as we all know - can be pushy, quite literally sometimes. Fox_exe’s software digs deep into storage systems, possibly of interest for one or the other Russian intelligence service…

Call me paranoid… I just think it’s possible… and not even that unlikely…
